COURSE
OVERVIEW:
The course is designed to provide you with an introduction
to the scientific field of Human Resource Selection
and Recruitment, with an underlying main theme that
increased objectivity results in better hiring decisions.
Upon
successful completion of the course, you will have
a solid understanding of how to design and implement
a recruitment and selection system that reflects state
of the art research in the field of Human Resources.
Additionally, you will know what steps to take in
order to improve the reliability and validity of existing
procedures. Although you might not be directly responsible
for the design of selection procedures, you will be
able to use the information presented in this course
to determine if professionally acceptable standards
are being applied to recruitment and selection procedures
in which you are involved.
The
course material consists of a textbook and a series
of power point slides. The course is divided into
eight (8) modules that focus on different aspects
of recruitment and selection.
We
begin with a general introduction to recruitment and
selection, discuss the importance of obtaining valid
job analysis data, and then focus on identifying and
measuring important job related knowledge, skills,
abilities, and other characteristics.
As
previously indicated, we always emphasize valid and
reliable assessment methods and we discuss how you
evaluate the effectiveness of the various assessment
processes. In conclusion we present information on
important legal considerations.
